Orange Weather Alert Issued by the Meteorological Department
Colour coded warnings are released by the Department of Meteorology to warn people of imminent weather conditions that may prove to be hazardous. While Yellow weather alert indicates severe weather with little or no danger, Orange weather alert is issued for weather conditions that may be perilous to people and the environment. The Meteorological Department of Shimla has released an Orange code warning for March 12th and 13th 2020 cautioning people of a heavy downpour accompanied by hailstorms and thunderstorms.Severe Weather Condition to Persist Longer Than Predicted!
Initially, the Meteorological Department forecast had predicted that the region would sustain onslaughts of heavy rain and snowfall from March 11th till March 13th 2020. However, The department proclaimed that the condition would continue in the same manner up to the 15th of this month. Reports recorded that the region remained dry on 10th March 2020. Keylong, the administrative centre of the tribal district, Lahaul- Spiti experienced a very low temperature of -5.2 degree Celsius, Manali records 1 degree Celsius, Dalhousie 5.2 degree Celsius, Kufri 4.8 degree Celsius and Kalpa 0.5 degree Celsius.Visits to the region will need to hold on, at least for a few days.
